Say you’re troubleshooting a project file with section heads that don’t match up to the system section lines similar to the following condition:
Keep the section head template in mind; if the geometry or reference planes were moved or the alignment does not correspond to the intersection of the horizontal and right reference planes the insertion will be off:
The following approach can be used to test the insertion of your section head family:
1. Create a new section head family from the default template. Draw a diagonal line at the intersection of the horizontal and right reference planes. If you don’t see the reference planes in the family verify they are set on under Visibility/Graphic Overrides > Annotation Categories > Reference Planes.
2. Cut & paste the line aligned from the template to the current view of your section head family. This way you can verify the insertion against the default template.
3. If the pasted line does not fall directly at the reference plane intersection, move your section head geometry to the endpoint of the line. Load the family back into the project and the section head should appear as expected.
