Also, to ensure that this works properly, n the Revit.ini, make sure that the line "AllowPressAndDrag" is set to =1
If it's not, the journal file will not complete and you will be asked to enter interactive mode.
It might be a good idea to back up your Revit.ini file and clean it up for the run as well. Just making sure that you don't have any "External Applications" listed in the Revit.ini file that return error messages on startup related to not being able to load them. _______________

Hi There,
Thanks for joining the revitinfo community!
Please Read the "readme.txt" file that was in the package I posted and make sure you have done everything listed in the file.
Notably, for international users, you have to change your Revit.ini file language default to english (ENU) for AUbench to work properly.
Please post back and let us all know what you figured out! _______________

Another thing to check that's not in the text file is the default paths that are in the Journal File.
1) Open the "AUBench-Journal2010" file in Notepad.
2) Change the default paths in the red boxed area of the attached screenshot to be correct for your machine.
3) Make sure you are putting the AUbench folder in the root of your C:\ drive as stated in the Readme.txt file and that you are also modifying your Revit.ini file accordingly. _______________

Do you think it could be the older processors with low L2 cache? Last Edit on:4/7/2010 1:15:58 PM |

Hi Michael, welcome to the forum!
Yes, I think the low L2 Cache is probably part of the problem. Also, do you know what frequency your RAM is running? Is it DDR2 @ 800 mhz or what?
How much RAM was available when you ran the test? Are you sure you didn't have any other processes running?
Given that the majority of this test is run only using one of the CPU cores, I would think your machine should be at least somewhat close to the performance of my workstation (the first post above).
Lastly, did you let the entire test complete?...i.e...it should run like 10 tests in a row, so you can make sure and get an average of all the tests...did you post the average or just the first test...the first test is always slower in my experience.
Let me know about my questions, so I can try to help further. _______________

The RAM is FB-DDR2 PC2-5300 (333Mhz). I did only let the test run one time. I'll run it again and let it finish. I thought it was only going to run once. It appeared to close Revit and be complete. Will Revit open back up and kick off running again? |

Okay, yeah, the RAM is a HUGE issue. Upgrading that will probably be a huge part, without even touching the processor, although both are contributing to the issue.
Yes, it will automatically open Revit back up...that's part of the test.
Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, I'm always glad to help however I can! _______________

Hi I was trying to use the Revit Benchmark on Revit Arch 2010 and I get a warning that the journal file would not run to completion and it was entering manual mode. I have the AllowPressAndDrag=1 set and I have verified that the paths are correct in the journal file. Do you have any idea? I tried to run the test on both a Win 7 x64 machine and a Win XP Pro x32 machine.
Thanks

I had this same problem and it had to do with the security settings on the ProductInformation.pit and CascadeInfo.cas files. On our machines they exist in the following directory, but I'm not sure if it would be in the same directory on your machine(s):
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\AdLM
You may need to assign ownership to one or both of those files, because I've found in a few cases that there is no owner. Then give local power users mod privs to those 2 files. And for gp (general purposes) I'd also check to make sure local power users have mod privs on the C:/Program Files/Revit Architecture 2010 folder. |

By the way, ProgramData is a hidden folder, so make sure you 'unhide' it. |

I figured out was stopping my test runs. I had missed one of the paths in the journal file. When I unzipped the attachment it went into a folder called AUBench2010. I found an instance in the journal file that was still looking for AUBench. I re pointed it and that fixed the issue. I will post some of my results soon. I have been running it on several computers that we are evaluating and currently running in production. |

My system needs more PSU to push all the ram. It has 12gb but win7 only sees 8gb. A good PSU is very important, In my opinion all the systems I see here should not be running anything under 800. I went with the 550w for budget reasons but plan on upgrading to Corsair 1000W soon.

Intel i7 920 @ 2.66 Ghz (Turbo 2.786Ghz)

Incidentally, the "Phil" in the readme is Phil Read. I think Phil created the first versions of this during his stint as "the Other Phil" at Autodesk (or was he Phil, and teh other Phil was the other Phil - I can never remember). After Autodesk, he was with HNTB for a while, and now is a Revit Consultant. If anyone is qualified as a "Revit Guru" it is Phil Read. |
